Kendall and Kylie Jenner have apologized for the controversy they have caused for putting their faces on shirts of Tupac, Pink Floyd and more, and then called them vintage.
The sisters then listed the shirts for $125 each and received huge backlash from people who condemned them for putting their faces across these iconic artists. The designs were immediately taken down from their sites.
The two issued an apology on their social media.
“These designs were not well thought out and we deeply apologize to anyone that has been upset and/or offended, especially to the families of the artists,” the statement read. “We are huge fans of their music and it was not our intention to disrespect these cultural icons in anyway. Thee tee shirts have been pulled from retail and all images have been removed. We will use this as an opportunity to learn from these mistakes, and again, we are very sorry.”
Stars took to Twitter to give out about the shirts. Sharon Osbourne tweeted angrily to the girls after they put their face across her husband Ozzy Osbourne.
“Girls, you haven’t earned the right to put your face with musical icons, stick to what you know…lip gloss.”
Biggie Smalls’ mother, Voletta Wallace, also took to Instagram to slam the girls after they used the Notorious B.I.G in one of their shirts.
“I am not sure who told @kyliejenner and @kendalljenner that they had the right to do this. The disrespect of these girls to not even reach out to me or anyone connected to the estate baffles me. I have no idea why they feel they can exploit the deaths of 2pac and my Son Christopher to sell a t-shirt. This is disrespectful , disgusting, and exploitation at its worst!!!,” she wrote.
Let’s see if the famous Jenner sisters can crawl back from this one.
