I was always told growing up, “it’s not what you say, but how you say it”. Well in the case of Toronto CP24 reporter Nathan Downer it was, what he said.
Nathan was met with a barrage of verbal abuse from former world champion boxer Mike Tyson, when mentioning his prior rape conviction and how it could affect Mayor Rob Ford’s re-election campaign.
On live T.V Nathan asked Tyson: “Some of your critics would say ‘this is a race for mayor, we know you’re a convicted rapist, this could hurt his campaign’, how would you respond to that?”
Tyson was blind-sided and taken back by the question, before going on a rant: “It’s interesting because you come across like a nice guy but you’re really a piece of sh*t….f*ck you, that was a piece of sh*t.”
Thank God, the cameras were rolling and he didn’t ask such a question on the street in an alley somewhere. Tyson might have lost his cool and showed him why he was heavyweight champ all those years.
All and all, the interviewed ended with Nathan taking the high road and thanking Mike for coming in, to which Tyson replied: “F*ck you.”

Nathan later took to Twitter: “I’m okay everybody. Unfortunately my question hurt Mike Tyson’s feelings. That was not my intentions. My apologies for the language. No ill will toward Mike Tyson. He lashed out at me and that’s okay. Not taking it personally.”
Got to watch what you say around Iron Mike, he’s still got that edge to him.
