Nicki Minaj’s ex, rapper Safaree Samuels claims that Minaj’s other ex, rapper Meek Mill had him jumped in LA outside a BET party.
TMZ released video of the alleged incident Friday afternoon, which shows Safaree being attacked by several men just after Mill arrived in an SUV, though it is not clear that these men are in fact connected to Mill. There has been no statement from Mill’s people about the incident, but Safaree claims that the men attacking him were, indeed, working for Mill. Mill posted a photo that is allegedly a response to Safaree’s allegations with a caption that quoted Tee Grizzley, a new rapper out of Detroit: “I wish I would pay attention to these homeless n#%gas.”
Safaree Lloyd Samuels started out with the group The Hoodstars, which included Nicki Minaj. When that group split up and Minaj went solo, Safaree became her hype man. He co-wrote “Did It On’em” for Minaj’s debut album Pink Friday and he appeared in the music video for “Stupid Hoe.” He also contributed to the album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.
The pair broke up after having dated for an unknown amount of time in 2014 and Safaree released It Is What It Is and It Is What It Is, Vol. 2 in 2015.
Robert Rihmeek Williams, Meek Mill, started out as a battle rapper from Philadelphia and was a member of rap group The Bloodhoundz briefly. He was signed by T.I. in 2008. He and Minaj began dating in 2015 when he was released from prison after a probation violation. They dated for two years. Mills has had several public disputes with other artists, several of whom have referenced his relationship with Minaj in their disses; these feuds have included Drake and The Game, among others.
