Russia’s Defense Ministry is investigating reports that an airstrike in Syria last month killed one leader of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
The strike was carried out on May 28 on a command post where ISIS leaders were meeting.
Reports have not been confirmed, as there have been many false claims of Baghdadi’s death before.
“I’m not going to take this too seriously because there have been at least five reported killings of al-Baghdadi over the last three years,” said CNN military analyst Lt. Gen. mark Hertling.
US national security officials have quickly discounted the claims and the reports are still being investigated by Russian officials.
