Samsung has stepped up to the plate it seems.

The South Korean company has developed a 60 GHz WiFi processor that could send data up to five times faster than our current devices.

Get this…it’ll allow data to be able to be transmitted up to speeds up 575 megabytes (MB) per second, which is enough speed to transfer a 1GB movie between devices in less than three seconds.

It also means you’ll be able to stream HD videos from mobiles devices to a T.V. in real time.

Samsung says they’re using something known as a ‘wide-coverage beam-forming antennae’, which would solve the speed issues that have troubled them before. The break-through didn’t come on their first attempt either. Samsung has said their previous attempts to use the 60GHz band has failed because of millimeter waves that have trouble penetrating certain objects, such as, walls.

Samsung hopes to advertize its 60 GHz WiFi technology as early as next year, in audio-visual systems, medical devices and mobile phones.

Now that’s break-through technology!
