Nick Viall is desperate for love, starring in three versions of ABC’s The Bachelor/Bachelorette to find it (and that doesn’t include the rejection-reunion that is The Bachelor in Paradise).
Five months ago, Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi got engaged on the finale of The Bachelor, once again giving millions of viewers–and Mr. Viall– hope that reality TV love could be real.
It may be real, but it doesn’t seem to be lasting. Viall and Grimaldi have relased a joint statement announcing the end of their engagement.
“It’s with a great amount of heartbreak for the both of us we have decided to end our engagement. We gave this relationship our all and we are saddened that we did not get the fairytale ending we hoped for. We will continue to be there for each other no matter what.”
They also added that they continue to have “lots of love and admiration for each other.”
Vanessa, who is from Montreal, Canada, had been spending most of her time in Los Angeles with Nick since the engagement. Nick had visited Montreal with her several time to meet her family.
Vanessa told E! News that while their date nights in Hollywood were fun, st”staying home in your pajamas and not having to put curlers in your hair and make up and having to dress up and put up a push-up bra [and] Nick cooking shirtless isn’t a bad date.”
She “discovered his cooking skills…the morning after we got engaged” when he made her French toast.
At the end of their season of The Bachelor Viall proposed in Finland with a $`00,000 engagement ring. They had assured fans that they would survive the so-called Bachelor curse, but it seems that was only wishful thinking.
Nick seemed particularly committed to making The Bachelor or The Bachelorette work for him; before becoming the bachelor-to-meet he became the runner-up on two different seasons of The Bachelorette.
His penchant for competition likely comes from being raised with 10 other siblings; he participated in athletics throughout high school and college as well.
He also appeared on Bachelor in Paradise season 3where he briefly dated several previous contestants from the reality series. He competed on Dancing with the Stars as well.
Vanessa was a special education and Italian teacher in Montreal and has dipped her toe into the acting career. Fun fact, you may be able to spot her in an episode of Being Human.
The question now is: will one or both of them take another stab at finding love through an ABC reality show? Could Vanessa be our next Bachelorette? Will Nick find out if the fourth time is actually the charm? Only time will tell.
