YouTube star Ingrid Nilsen, known for her fashion and beauty expertise, came out as gay to her 3.3 million subscribers on Tuesday.
In a very emotional, 20-minute video, 26-year-old Nilsen explains that, “this is me…Sitting right here, right now. This is me… the fact that I’m gay is a part of me.”
The Vlogger, an inspiration to millions, tells viewers, “I want to live my life unapologetically, because I’m proud of who I am and I’m not gonna apologize for who I am anymore”
The video currently has over 2 million views, which it received in less than 24 hours, and many are offering words of support.
YouTube celebrity Tyler Oakley, a huge LGBTQ+ spokesperson who has worked with organizations like The Trevor Project, tweeted Nilsen’s video with the caption “so happy for my queen @ingridnilsen for sharing her story and truth. You’re making the world a better place!”
Other YouTubers such fashion gurus Zoella and Tanya Burr, PointlessBlog star Alfie Deyes, and My Drunk Kitchen creator Hannah Hart have offered words of support as well.
At the closing of the video, Nilsen smiles through her tearful final remarks as she exclaims, “This is the life that I have always lived in my head and now it’s real.”
